Why hickory? Of all domestic hardwoods, hickory fuses two key characteristics. One, it has earned an 1820 rating on the Janka scale, making it one of the hardest domestic species available and even exceeding certain exotics. Secondly, as you can likely see across the Arden product line, hickory exudes character: Reddish tan and cream coloring intertwine for a two-tone, contrasting appearance. Darker knots and more prominent grain enhance its texture, resulting in an undulating, straight-from-the-tree impression.
