KEY CARE & MAINTENANCE CRITERIA
• After installation, the floor should be kept at 30-60% Relative Humidity and between 15°-27° C (59° -
80° F)
• If used with underfloor heating the maximum temperture of the heating system should be 29° C (84°
F). Temperature should also be adjusted by a maximum of 2.5° C (3° F) in a 24 hour period.
• Place floor mats and area rugs at main entrances to minimize abrasive debris that may be introduced
to the floor.
• Place protective pads under furniture legs and other movable furniture.
• Use protective mats under wheeled office-type chairs.
• In cases of wheel chair use take care to remove embedded debris from tires when entering the home
and use protective mats under high use areas.
• Avoid using lacquers, polishes, waxes or detergent-based cleaners as they will leave a film/residue
on the surface of your floors and may cause damage beyond repair. The surface of laminate flooring
does not require refinishing and will maintain its original appearance.
• Never use abrasive cleaners on your laminate floors.
• For products equipped with Aqua Protect, never leave a steam cleaner on in one place for long
periods of time.
• Inhaus laminate products equipped with Aqua Protect, are water-resistant but not waterproof.
Caution should be taken whenever potential moisture exposure is present.
Daily Cleaning Guidelines
• For daily cleaning, use a dust mop or vacuum with hard surface attachment to remove dust, loose dirt
or debris.
• For more thorough cleaning, where a cleaning solution may be required, use a water-based laminate
floor cleaner. Alternatively, you can make your own cleaner by combining 1 cup of vinegar to 1 gallon
of warm water, or 1/3 cup of ammonia to 1 gallon of warm water.
• To apply cleaner to the floor we recommending using a misting bottle, applying the cleaner to an
area and then wiping with a cloth or mop.

moisture related damage underneath the floor.

dust, loose dirt or debris.
• For more thorough cleaning, where a cleaning solution may be required, use a water-based

Moto Flooring Commercial Care and Maintenance
This document and guidelines will help to maintain the appearance of and extend the life of your MOTO flooring. Regular and well-planned maintenance programs protect the floor by reducing wear, preserves the floor’s attractive appearance and ultimately increases its service life.
Safety
Use standard maintenance industry safety practices and precautions whenever performing maintenance procedures. Be sure to use approved PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) per the cleaning product SDS and ensure all maintenance procedures are conducted per the cleaning products instructions. The use of Caution Tape and/or Wet Floor Signs is recommended to prevent slips and falls.
Post Installation Checklist
Prior to initial maintenance, sweep the floor and cover with an appropriate protective product, such as
Masonite or equivalent, to prevent scuffing and scratching that may not come out during the installation
and/or maintenance procedures.
Always use untreated, new or thoroughly cleaned mops and pads when conducting daily or routine
maintenance.
DO NOT use vacuums that have a beater bar or electric brooms with hard plastic bottoms or no padding, as
this may cause discoloration, scratching and loss of sheen.
DO NOT use highly alkaline, acidic cleaners or use detergents, aggressive strippers, abrasive cleaners or
“mop and shine” type products (such as Bleach, Pine-Sol, Clorox Soft Scrub, Mop & Glo, Mr. Clean, Murphy’s
Oil Soap and similar, unapproved cleaners), as they will dull the finish and sheen of the flooring material.
Always test stronger cleaning agents on sample pieces or in unnoticeable areas first.
DO NOT use Mineral Spirits, Kerosene, Gasoline, Naphtha and/or other solvents to clean MOTO products.
DO NOT allow excess amounts of water to sit on floor for extended periods of time.
IMPORTANT Always dispose of cleaning chemicals correctly according to local and state requirements.
Daily/Routine Maintenance
Ensure that adhesive has cured for the period (minimum 72 hours) recommended by the adhesive
manufactures instructions prior to conducting initial maintenance.
The single greatest cause of damage to any flooring or floor finish is abrasion from dirt and grit.
Most of this dirt entering any building comes in on people’s footwear at entrances with entryway
walk-off mats a must. Weather, traffic and geographical location will influence the required
frequency of maintenance.
Clean entryway walk-off mats to remove dirt, grit, sand and other contaminants from being
tracked onto the floor. Spills should be cleaned up immediately.
Thoroughly sweep or dust mop and vacuum flooring (without beater bar assembly) to remove any
dirt, dust or debris.
Damp-mop the floor on a regular basis, depending upon traffic and soil levels in the area. Using
Ecolab Cleaning Products or Hilway Direct “Neutral Cleaner” (independent websites). Follow
product application instructions and cleaning directions.
Periodic Maintenance
When necessary, scrub the floor using an auto scrubber or rotary machine on low RPM’s (175-300 rpm) with
Ecolab QC 31 “Neutral Cleaner” or Hilway Direct “Neutral Cleaner”, using the proper dilution ratio. Fit the
machine with a 3M-equivalent red scrubbing pad and work the solution over the floor.
Thoroughly rinse the entire floor with fresh, clean water. Remove the dirty residue with a wet-vacuum or with
a clean mop and allow the floor to dry completely before allowing foot traffic.
Never use a brush or pad more aggressive than a 3M red equivalent. White, Blue, Green, Brown and Black
pads will damage the surface of the floor.

Maintenance Overview
MOTO is a low maintenance product that is protected by a finish coating that does not require an additional
floor finish, commonly called a “wax”. Though this layer greatly improves the durability of the product, daily
and routine maintenance must be performed to maintain the appearance of the product.
However, over time floors may begin to lose their luster, especially in high traffic areas and may require an
application of a finish.
Inhaus recommends a Hilway floor finish: Matte, Plus Matte or Primo HP for best overall performance.
Follow Hilway application instructions and daily cleaning directions. Hilway Direct “Finishes” (independent
website).
Controlling grit and soil is crucial to prolonging the attractive appearance of any floor. Grit or soil is any
material–including dirt, stones, sand and clay–that is deposited onto the floor by normal commercial
traffic. The best way to control grit is by using appropriate walk-off mats placed at entrances. Ensure
mats are manufactured with non-staining backs to prevent discoloration. Mats are available at Door Mats
(independent website)
Flooring Protectors
Proper selection and care of furniture rests are important in the maintenance and appearance retention
of floor coverings. Remove small diameter buttons from the legs of chairs/furniture and replace with
appropriate protector or felt glides that have bearing surfaces no less than 1” (25mm) in diameter.
Equip swiveled-type office chairs and other rolling furniture with broad-surface, non-staining casters at least
2” (50mm) in diameter. All rolling chairs or seating must have a resilient flooring chair pad installed over the
finished floor to protect floor covering.
All fixed furniture legs must have permanent felt or soft rubber floor protectors installed on all contact
points to reduce indentation. Furniture, appliances, equipment, should be properly leveled first. The contact
areas (legs) should be large enough to distribute the load evenly without damaging the floor and be smooth
and flat, and free from surface irregularities etc.
Floor protectors must have a flat contact point of at least 1” in (25mm) width and must cover the entire
bottom surface of the furniture leg.
Ensure all furniture castors and chair legs and are clean and free of any and all dirt and debris. Routinely
clean chair castors and furniture legs to ensure that dirt or debris has not built up or become embedded in
castors or floor protectors. Replace chair castors and floor protectors at regular intervals, especially if they
become damaged or heavily soiled.
