With all the manufacturing taken place in Dalton and the surrounding areas a secondary market of outlet stores, retailers, and wholesales began to open in Dalton. The Dalton, GA area became synonymous with carpet deals much like Hickory, NC is with furniture. In the early 2000's there were over a 100 retail locations in the Dalton, GA area with most of them located at I-75 and Exit 328, Connector 3. With that many stores in such a small area Dalton became a travel destination for a flooring experience.
