Why buy Discount Engineered Hardwood Flooring?
Engineered Wood Flooring is made up of Multiple layers of solid wood in a cross-ply construction. Engineered wood is real wood, but instead of one solid piece of wood, it is made up of three to ten thick layers of wood, called piles, that are assembled and glued in a cross-ply construction. The top layer of wood can range from 1/16" to 1/6" thick. Overall board thickness ranges from 1/4" to 3/4". Due to the multi-ply structure, engineered wood is more stable than solid wood and is less susceptible to shrinking and expanding with changes in temperatures and humidity.
- Engineered hardwood flooring can be installed directly over concrete and can also be installed below ground level.
- Engineered wood flooring with a top layer thinner than 1/10" cannot be refinished; however, it can be recoated to renew the surface of the floor.

From experience, most engineered hardwoods are imported in from China. But that doesn't make them a bad choice. The Chinese have been exporting hardwood to the states for decades. They quality is good, good enough to out on the floor. But China isn't the only country taking a hold of the flooring market. Indonesia is making a big dent in the business, especially since the trade war between the USA and China. The Trump Administration has increased taxes on Chinese Imports, starting in the early part of 2018. Some prices jumped as much as 25%. All discount hardwoods still have to follow a standard that is set by retailers and distributors alike.
