How Quick-Step EverTEK Engineered Hardwood Is Uniquely Constructed

Quick-Step EverTEK engineered hardwood is designed from the ground up for stability, performance, and long-lasting beauty:

  • Multi-Layer Construction with HDF Core: At the heart of EverTEK is a High-Density Fiberboard (HDF) core, a precision-manufactured engineered wood layer that provides exceptional strength, dimensional stability, and resistance to everyday stress. The HDF core helps the floor resist expansion and contraction from humidity and temperature changes better than traditional plywood cores, delivering consistent performance throughout your home.
  • Real Hardwood Wear Layer: EverTEK features a real hardwood veneer on top, giving you the authentic look and warmth of solid wood while maintaining the enhanced stability of engineered flooring. This top layer is finished and protected to resist wear and maintain its look over time.
  • WetProtect® TEKnology: Quick-Step’s patented WetProtect® TEKnology adds advanced moisture protection at the joints and throughout the board. This system helps prevent spills and surface moisture from penetrating below the surface and reaching the subfloor, making it one of the most water-resistant engineered hardwood floors available.
  • EverLast® TEKnology: EverTEK is finished with EverLast® TEKnology, a durable surface protection system that stands up to everyday wear, scratches, and surface abrasion. This finish extends the life of your floor and keeps it looking beautiful even in high-traffic areas.

Together, the HDF core, real wood veneer, and Quick-Step’s patented technologies make EverTEK engineered hardwood both beautiful and built to last, offering stability, moisture resistance, and everyday durability that outperform many traditional hardwoods.

How to Install Quick-Step EverTEK Engineered Hardwood

Quick-Step EverTEK is designed for an easy floating click-lock installation, making it a popular choice for both professionals and experienced DIYers. The planks lock together without glue or nails and float over the subfloor, allowing for natural expansion and contraction. Before installation, the flooring should be acclimated in the room for 48–72 hours, and the subfloor should be clean, dry, and level.

Most installations require only basic tools, including:

  • Measuring tape and pencil
  • Spacers for expansion gaps
  • Tapping block, pull bar, and rubber mallet
  • Utility knife or flooring saw

A moisture barrier may be recommended depending on your subfloor type.

Quick-Step EverTEK and Engineered Hardwood Flooring FAQs

What are engineered hardwoods?

Engineered hardwood floors are made of a real wood veneer layer bonded atop multiple layers of plywood or high-density fiberboard. This layered construction gives added dimensional stability over solid wood, making it suitable for a variety of indoor environments where moisture and temperature can vary.

Is engineered hardwood better than hardwood?

“Better” depends on your needs. Engineered hardwood offers greater stability in moisture-prone areas (like basements or over concrete) and tends to resist cupping and warping better than solid hardwood. Traditional solid hardwood can be refinished more times, but engineered hardwood delivers excellent performance and aesthetic appeal for most residential settings.

What are the disadvantages of engineered hardwood?

Some engineered hardwood floors can have thinner top wood layers than solid floors, limiting how many times they can be refinished. Also, lower-quality engineered wood can vary in moisture resistance and wear layer durability, so it’s important to choose a high-performance product like Quick-Step EverTEK that includes advanced protections.

Can you mop an engineered floor?

Yes, but you should avoid soaking the floor. Use a damp (not wet) microfiber mop and a cleaner recommended for hardwood floors. Liquids should never be left to sit, as excessive moisture over time can damage wood flooring. Quick-Step EverTEK’s WetProtect technology helps block moisture at joints, but good cleaning practices still matter.

About Vinyl Flooring

What is luxury vinyl flooring?

Luxury vinyl flooring is a high-performance floor covering designed to realistically mimic the look and texture of natural materials like hardwood and stone. It is constructed in layers, featuring a durable wear layer that protects against scratches and a waterproof core that makes it suitable for any room in the home.

What is the difference between LVP, LVT, SPC and WPC flooring?

LVP refers to luxury vinyl planks that mimic wood, while LVT refers to luxury vinyl tiles that mimic stone or ceramic. SPC stands for stone plastic composite and features a rigid core that is highly dent-resistant, making it ideal for high-traffic areas. WPC stands for wood plastic composite, which offers a softer, quieter feel underfoot.

What are the differences between solid and engineered hardwood flooring?

Hardwood flooring has long been the gold standard for timeless elegance and natural beauty. Its intricate grain patterns and rich textures bring warmth and character to any space. While solid hardwood remains a classic choice, engineered hardwood offers the same stunning aesthetics in a more versatile, family-friendly package—perfect for modern homes.

Which waterproof flooring types are best for kitchens and bathrooms?

We offer waterproof flooring with hundreds of styles in luxury vinyl tile, luxury vinyl plank, rigid core, and laminate designed to withstand spills and humidity. These materials are scuff-resistant and long-lasting, making them the top choice for wet areas in both homes and businesses.

Is your vinyl flooring pet-friendly?

Most of our vinyl and laminate options are perfect for homes with pets. They feature a protective wear layer that resists scratches and accidental spills.

What are the best inexpensive flooring options?

Vinyl flooring is one of the most versatile and budget-friendly flooring options available. Modern luxury vinyl flooring mimics the look of stone, hardwood, and tile with stunning realism. It is waterproof, durable, and easy to clean, making it a favorite for households with kids and high foot traffic.

What should I ask when buying luxury vinyl flooring?

When choosing vinyl flooring, ask about the wear layer thickness for scratch resistance, whether the core is SPC or WPC for durability, and if the product features an attached underlayment. You should also confirm if the installation method is click-lock or glue-down to ensure it matches your subfloor and skill level.

Flooring Installation

How long should flooring acclimate before installation?

We recommend letting hardwood acclimate in the room for at least 24 hours. Ensure your home is kept at a normal temperature during this time.

Can vinyl planks and tiles be installed over concrete and radiant heat?

When installing over concrete, you must use a vapor barrier to prevent moisture from affecting the flooring.

Can luxury vinyl flooring be installed over radiant heat?

Most vinyl flooring can be installed over radiant heating systems. Always verify that the specific product is rated for radiant heat before beginning your project.

Do I need to buy underlayment?

If your flooring has a pre-attached pad, you do not need additional underlayment. For products without an attached pad, underlayment is recommended to provide sound dampening and a softer feel underfoot.

Do you provide installers?

We do not provide installation services. We may be able to recommend installers in your area, but they are third-party contractors without affiliation with Georgia Carpet Industries. You can also visit the International Certified Flooring Installers website, linked here, to find a manufacturer in your area.

What happens if I mismeasured my flooring space?

It is very important to ensure you have measured correctly before ordering. We highly recommend hiring professionals to come and measure your space. As per industry standards, manufacturers will not accept returns of excess flooring.

Purchasing 10-20% more than necessary is recommended to ensure you have enough to cover the required space.

Flooring Shipping and Order Logistics

Will the flooring ship directly to my house?

Flooring deliveries offer two options for shipping:

  • Home Delivery: Your order arrives on a large semi-truck at your curb. You are responsible for moving the product from the curb into your home.
  • Terminal Pickup: We ship your order to a local freight terminal. This is often more cost-effective and allows you to pick up the product on your own schedule with the help of terminal loading equipment.

While you may be inclined to choose home delivery, we highly recommend terminal delivery. You can view our video shipping guide at the bottom of this page.

Consult with your sales representative to determine which delivery option is best for you.

Absolutely! We ship to the contiguous United States!

Shopping for flooring online is a smart way to save. Without the overhead costs of a traditional showroom or commissioned salespeople, you get wholesale pricing on the brands you love—plus potential savings on local sales tax.

What is the cost of shipping and handling?

Yes. The price of any flooring shipped to you or a terminal includes the cost of shipping and handling. With “free shipping” deals, the shipping cost is built into the product price. Flooring picked up in person at our warehouse includes no shipping or handling cost.
