NEW! HempWood Engineered Hardwood

Posted by MariRuth Runyon on 22nd Jul 2022

HempWood Engineered Hardwood is one of the most unique collections we’ve added to our flooring arsenal here at Georgia Carpet. It is a very dense, sustainable hardwood substitute made from hemp plants. It is much more eco-friendly, as hemp grows in 120 days while oak takes 50-100 years. HempWood’s goal is to reduce deforestation in the flooring industry. Their manufacturing process has the smallest ecological footprint of any hardwood alternative. The hemp is pressed into 6" square molds (6' long), submerged in a no added formaldehyde, soy-based adhesive, and then baked. After baking, the HempWood Blocks are cut into flooring. These styles have a Janka Hardness rating in the 2600 range. The flooring is incredibly durable and even harder than oak. These non-toxic hemp composite wood designs are perfect for those who prefer a more sustainable flooring option. HempWood is also proudly made in the USA, with their hemp growing in Kentucky. HGTV star Christina Haack recently used HempWood products to renovate her house in Nashville, TN. She will be working with HempWood in the future to help create some new styles and visuals. Durability and sustainability are what make this flooring stand out. HempWood styles are Carb 2 & TSCA VI compliant, featuring a water-resistant sealer engineered for stability. Considered the premier wood substitute for any flooring alternative, They have no carbon footprint and are perfect for any home. Check out all the unique HempWood Engineered Hardwood designs here!
