What Types of Flooring Are Available?

Deciding on a wood flooring can be a challenge when you haven't really had a lot of time to go over it thoroughly. We will be discussing 3 different types of wood flooring and talking about what makes each specific type unique. 

Types of Wood Flooring

Solid - Solid constructed wood floor products ranging from 3/8 inch to 3/4 inch thick  and available in 1&1/2 inch to 12 inch wide. Solid wood flooring can be sanded and refinished multiple times for homeowners who are particularly worried about long-term damage to their flooring.

Engineered – Wood flooring products constructed in various layers, with grain alternating in opposite directions. This base is then topped with a premium layer of your choice of hardwood species and multiple coats of protective polyurethane finish. This construction counters woods natural tendency to expand and contract with seasonal tempature changes, giving this product more stability for installation in areas solid wood floor products cannot be installed.

Laminate - The top surface of laminate flooring is a photograph of hardwood. High quality photographs faithfully reproduce the grain and color of natural hardwood. The textures on quality laminate flooring closely resemble real wood such as grain and distressing. Although many people insist on hardwood flooring, laminates are a long-lasting, durable, affordable option for rental properties or busy families with kids and pets.

Cabin Grade - Typically when you look at cabin or tavern grade hardwood flooring you are seeing the outer cuts of the tree closest to the bark. 1st Quality hardwood is usually imperfection free, while cabin grade is full of these stylish little flaws. You will not find anything more unique in the natural character of a plank than, this type of plank.
